Samsung will launch a rollable screen cell phone in 2025, says website

Samsung may explore a new cell phone format in 2025. According to information from the Asian website The Electhe company will launch a rollable smartphone next year and should stay out of models that fold into three parts.

The change of direction by the South Korean company would be directly related to the arrival of the Huawei Mate XT, the world’s first triple-screen cell phone announced by Huawei recently. This would have made Samsung change its strategy and look for a new aspect to stand out.

The website reports that the launch is scheduled for the second half of 2025 and the device would have a 12.4-inch screen when fully opened. In addition, the model would have a front camera under the display for selfies. Additional specifications have not been revealed.

New trend is approaching

The development of rollable smartphones is not exactly new, as several brands have been working on prototypes for a few years. Samsung itself showed the concept of a 12-inch rollable screen at an event just over a year ago, demonstrated in the image above. In fact, the display must be the same as the one used on the device.

Companies such as Oppo, Motorola and Tecno also actively develop products with similar features. Even LG, which no longer operates in the smartphone business, was interested in investing in this still embryonic market. However, not all technologies developed as prototypes in laboratories become products for the end consumer.

If the rumors come true, Samsung would take a huge step by launching a rollable smartphone in an unprecedented way. Even though the supposed launch is still about a year away, it is unlikely that another brand will launch a device of this type before the owner of the Galaxy.

THE The Elec also points out that Samsung stopped producing dummy copies for stores. Among the reasons is a cost cut at the company, which is preparing mass layoffs across the globe.
